Although considered a hotel, we include this property to give readers delightful accommodation in an area not well known to tourists. The Zanon family, whose other hotel, Villa Abbazia, features in our hotel guide, drew on their expertise when creating this property.

With a true flair for details and decorating they have combined contemporary styles with classic, mixing fabrics, colors and materials with stunning results. The new building has been constructed on half of the Cisterian Abbey of Santa Maria, a convent complex of which the other half is still occupied.

Architectural enhancements echo the ancient abbey with columns and vaulted ceilings. Each of the comfortable rooms, all down one long hall on each of two floors, maintains its own personality softly done in beige tones and highlighted by one special focal piece. Superb designer bathrooms matching room colors have all the latest fittings, including no-mist mirrors and rain shower heads.

Breakfast is served downstairs with windows looking out to the ancient palazzo Rusca with loggia, as do many of the guest bedrooms.

The quaint town of Follina with its mountain backdrop is a perfect spot from which to explore the upper portion of the Veneto region from Treviso, to Asolo, down the Prosecco wine roads or to visit the main important fairs in the area as the second edition of SICAM what will be held in the Pordenone Fairgrounds on the 20th-23rd of October 2010 or the 51 edition of Mig in longarone on the 28th November  2010 or for a congress to the close castelbrando
